The Magenta Book

Developed by HM Treasury to provide guidance on what to consider when designing an evaluation.

The Magenta Book is written for the policy, delivery and analysis professions, all of which are responsible for securing and using good evidence. Evaluation should be built into an intervention’s design and delivery from the earliest stages. Small changes in intervention design can make a large difference to evidence that can be generated.
