Quick Start Guide

Below are three key tools to support you to plan your evaluation with limited time.

Tool 1: Top Tips

INVOLVE all key stakeholders and ensure appropriate patient and public involvement

UNDERSTAND the evidence base and how the service will lead to the desired outcomes

SET clear aims and objectives

PLAN your evaluation early and review regularly

SHARE your findings and act on them

Tool 2: Checklist

It is often tempting to launch straight into an evaluation without taking the time to plan first. Planning is a crucial part of the process.

This downloadable checklist has been designed to help with the process of planning your evaluation. It will enable you to become clear about what you intend to do, what data you need to collect and how you will undertake the analysis. We have also created a short version of the checklist, which can be downloaded here.

Tool 3: Evaluation Plan Template

The Evaluation Plan Template is an important document that will guide you through the whole project, and can be referred to for clarification as the project progresses.  It helps you to set out the purpose of your evaluation, its aims and objectives, chosen approach, data needs, resources requirements and timescales.
